Lost Tycho Brahe and Mrs. Longfellow 1985 TV Pilot
Tycho Brahe & Mrs. Longfellow (1985) — “They’re in love. With each other. And with danger.”
Rumble Falls is the kind of sleepy mining town where the neon flickers, the saxophone never sleeps, and somebody is always “accidentally” falling into a shaft. Into this glitter-dusted grit strolls a most 80s power-couple: Tycho Brahe—yes, the 16th-century Danish astronomer with the polished brass nose—reborn by unexplained TV science and forever quoting the heavens, and Mrs. Longfellow—cocktail-wielding socialite, magazine maven, and problem-solver who can spot a murder motive faster than she can finish a bourbon.
Think Hart to Hart chemistry, Simon & Simon stakeouts, and Murder, She Wrote coincidence—all poured over crushed ice and served with a cheeky umbrella.
The unaired two-hour pilot drops our lovers into “A Case of Miss Dynamite,” where a pageant queen goes boom, a mayor sweats rosewater, and a foreman insists a lit stick of dynamite is a “romance candle.” Crane shots you can practically hear, freeze-frame laughs you can definitely feel, and a theme song that says “lighthearted crime show” before the first commercial bumper. Tycho charts trajectories and blood spatter like star maps; Mrs. Longfellow reads people like a society page. The clues point left-handed, the alibis go right out the window, and every time Tycho’s about to solve it, she solves him instead. Do they crack the case? Eventually. Do they sizzle? Constantly. (Cue the rim-lit promo still, police tape just out of focus, and a jet that keeps “turning around” for one more kiss.)
In true 80s fashion, the town’s brass can’t stand them, the townsfolk adore them, and the captions were supposed to explain everything… not that anyone read those during the key change. The result is a gloriously anachronistic, neon-noir valentine to prime-time sleuthing: part telescope, part tumbler, all chemistry.

For their 75th episode, Project Audion founder Larry Groebe decided to gather some folks together to talk ABOUT the medium. Especially because right now Artificial Intelligence is on so many people's minds - and it promises to impact audio storytelling like it's impacting so many other things.
We brought together eight very opinionated folks, plus one AI chatbot, so that you can "Meet The Creators." It's a panel discussion with some of best, longest-running modern radio-drama creators in North America -- one to get you thinking, starting from a wide-ranging and subtle discussion on what we should even call the medium. We also consider why we even find value in creating new audio fiction in the 21st century. What's the point in revisiting and continuing this old storytelling art form? The 45-minute discussion was at various times lively, nostalgic, angry, funny, feisty, thoughtful, enthusiastic, even emotional.
Our panelists ranged from coast to coast and both America and Canada. As Artificial Intelligence seems to be replacing human efforts in so many different aspects of life, how should we define the roles of both people and AI in creating twenty-first century audio-based stories. Not a fictional story this month -- but the story of why we make audio drama is well worth hearing...

THIS IS HOLLYWOOD: The Stranger
The Narada Radio Company proudly presents a re-imagined episode of a lost radio series, This is Hollywood! Little is known about this series, other than the fact that it, like many other series in the Golden Age, presented radio adaptations of popular films. When director Pete Lutz was working on his adaptation of the screenplay, he discovered that The Stranger had been adapted for this lost series. Since no recording of this episode, nor any episode, could be located, Mr. Lutz created an introduction and a closing segment that might've been the way This is Hollywood presented them. Right or wrong, there it is, and who can dispute it?
In this production, the Narada Radio Company presents an adaptation of the full film -- indeed the running times of this audio play and the motion picture are very similar -- so you get an hour and a half of suspense, action, adventure, and thrills, all surrounding the story of a post-WWII Nazi hunter, on the track of her prey, the mastermind behind the death camps -- who has destroyed all links to his identity! We're sure you'll agree that our production is just as thrilling as the 1946 film.
THIS PRODUCTION is dedicated to the memory of Michele Barnett, a much-loved personage in both the Narada Radio Company and in the Corpus Christi/Coastal Bend region community theatre family.
